Enriching Home Learning

In addition to set homework there are numerous web-based learning activities.  The following are suggested sites for you to explore with your child.  These could be the answer to "I'm bored".

www.loveready4kids.co.uk

The site is excellent for helping your child select suitable reading books.  Extracts can be downloaded and shared.  Don't forget to still read to your child; we are never to old for a bedtime story.

www.bbc.co.uk/schools/ks2bitesize/

The site has activites, guides and guidance on English, Mathematics and Science.  These are sutiable for most Year 5 and 6 children.  There are also good activities on KS1 bitesize suitable for the lower school.

nrich.maths.org/public/

Am enriching maths site that develops problem-solving and mathematical thinking.  Stage 1 and 2 challenges can keep children busy for hours!

www.radarmaths.com/

This site has free games and activity suggestions.

www.teachingandlearningresources.co.uk

Select Learning, Literacy and then National Literacy Strategy Term 1,2 and 3.

For maths excercises select Learning, Numeracy and then National Numeracy Strategy Year 3, 4, 5, or 6.

Please remember that the Year group guidance relates an average child.  Your child may benefit from consolidation excercises at a lower level or indeed could be challenged at a higher level.
